Calgary Roofing Company – Expert Contractors Since 2010
When the June 2020 & Aug 2024 hailstorm damaged over 105,000 Calgary homes, our crews completed 1847 roof replacements. As Calgary’s certified roofing contractor (Business no. 768184319), we’ve protected homes across all Calgary quadrants, and beyond for years.
Our team carries $2 million liability insurance and full WCB coverage (Account #9600951). We source materials directly from local suppliers including Convoy Supply, ABC Supply, Roofmart and others, ensuring same-week project starts.

Unlike contractors who subcontract to out-of-province crews, our 7 full-time employees live in Calgary communities. They understand how Chinook winds affect shingle adhesion and why north-west facing slopes in Southern Alberta require wind-package protection and other roof slopes as a whole.

Types of Roofing Materials We Install
Calgary’s freeze-thaw cycles demand specific material performance. The National Research Council tested and approved these products at their Calgary facility for our extreme weather conditions:
Asphalt Shingles (72% of Calgary homes)
CertainTeed Landmark PRO shingles withstand winds up to 180 km/h – crucial for Calgary’s Chinook gusts, locally sold in Calgary. Malarkey’s Legacy shingle with enhanced Wind Protection 209 km/h, lead the shingle market in terms of reliability.
Class 4 Impact-Resistant Shingles
After Calgary’s major hailstorms between 2020-2024 caused more than $3 billion in damage, insurance companies now offer 15-30% premium discounts for GAF ArmorShield II, IKO (Nordic) or Malarkey Vista AR shingles. We’ve installed these on hundreds of Calgary homes since 2020.

Metal Roofing (growing 3% annually in Calgary)
DECRA Stone-Coated Steel reflects 85% of solar heat, reducing cooling costs by up to $340 annually (Natural Resources Canada energy audit calculations for 2,200 sq ft Calgary homes, 2023). These systems sold by Roofmart Calgary, survived the 2020 hailstorm with zero penetrations.
Flat Roofing
Two-ply, torch-down SBS roofing systems by Soprema offer 20 years warranty with options for extended warranties.
Signs You Need Roof Replacement in Calgary
Calgary’s extreme weather accelerates roof deterioration. Insurance Bureau of Canada’s 2023 Calgary Regional Report shows these warning signs precede 89% of roof failures:
- Shingle granules in gutters – UV damage accelerates above 2,500m elevation.
- Ice dam formations – Poor attic ventilation causes 67% of Calgary roof leaks
- Curled shingle edges – Thermal cycling creates 40°C+ temperature differentials daily
- Visible hail impacts – Dents larger than 25mm compromise water protection
- Interior water stains – Often appear 6-12 months before exterior damage shows
- Age exceeding 20 years – Calgary roofs last 18-22 years (national average: 25)
Act within 30 days of noticing these signs. Delayed repairs increase costs by an average of $3,400 due to structural damage (Alberta Construction Association’s 2023 Cost Analysis Report for Southern Alberta).

Our Calgary Roofing Process
We eliminate delays and surprises through structured project phases that Calgary homeowners can track in real-time:

–Phase 1 (4-6 hours): Remove existing materials, inspect decking, replace damaged boards
–Phase 2 (6-8 hours): Install ice/water shield, synthetic underlayment, starter strips

What Calgarians Are Saying:
Hail Roofing Restoration
We had the 2024 hail storm hit our place pretty hard and the insurance adjuster approved a full replacement. HKS was one of three companies we got quotes from. Klodian was the only one who actually went into our attic and showed us moisture damage on the decking that the other two missed entirely. The crew replaced 11 sheets of OSB we didn’t even know were soft. Only reason for four stars – scheduling took a bit longer than expected because they were slammed after the storm, but honestly I’d rather wait for the right crew than rush it with someone else. Roof looks great and the Malarkey shingles are holding up well through this winter.

Roof Replacement
Our roof was the original from 1987 – almost 37 years old. We’d been patching leaks for the last three winters and finally pulled the trigger. Klodian came out, walked the roof, and told us straight up that our ventilation was the real problem. The soffit vents were blocked with blown-in insulation and the bathroom exhaust was dumping into the attic. The full replacement included fixing all of that. Two and a half days start to finish, crew cleaned up everything including nails in the driveway with a magnet roller. The ice dams we used to get every January haven’t come back. Wish we’d done this three years ago instead of throwing money at band-aid repairs.

Malarkey class 4 Roof Upgrade
We went with HKS after our neighbour used them last summer. Klodian was honest about what we needed versus what would be nice to have – he actually talked us out of the premium shingle upgrade because our roof pitch didn’t justify the extra cost. Appreciated that. The install went smoothly over two days. One small thing – there was a bit of a mess in the flower bed along the front of the house from the tear-off, and we had to point it out before they came back to fix it. They did come back the same day though and sorted it. Overall solid work and the price was fair for what we got.

How long does a roof replacement take in Calgary?
Most residential roof replacements in Calgary take 1-3 days, depending on size and weather. A typical 2,200 square foot home requires 2 days: one for tear-off and preparation, another for installation. Weather delays occur 15% of the time between October and April.
Does insurance cover hail damage roof replacement in Calgary?
Yes, most Calgary home insurance policies cover hail damage exceeding your deductible (typically $1,000-$2,500). We handle insurance paperwork and meet adjusters on-site at no charge.
What’s the best roofing material for Calgary’s climate?
Class 4 impact-resistant shingles (GAF ArmorShield II or Malarkey Vista AR) provide optimal protection against Calgary’s hail while handling temperature extremes from -30°C to +30°C. These materials reduce insurance premiums by 15-30% and last 20-30 years.
When is the best time to replace a roof in Calgary?
May through September offers ideal conditions with minimal precipitation and temperatures between 10°C-25°C for proper shingle adhesion. However, we complete installations year-round using cold-weather techniques and materials rated for -23°C application.
Do I need a permit for roofing in Calgary?
Calgary requires permits for structural roof adjustments/repairs. Transitioning from shingles to concrete tile roof will require an approved structural engineering report. We handle all permit applications ($169-$1578 depending on project scope) and schedule mandatory City of Calgary inspections. Repairs or simple roof replacements do not require a City permit.
How much does a new roof cost in Calgary?
Average Calgary roof replacement costs range from $10,500-$23,000 for standard asphalt shingles on a 2,200 sq ft home. One roof square(SQ) equals 100sqft. A square can range from $390- $750+ and varies per pitch. Roof pitches higher than 6/12 are subject to additional charges. Higher Class 4 grade shingles will impact the final cost too. Metal roofing runs $22,000-$35,000. These prices include removal, disposal, materials, labour, and warranty.
What warranty comes with Calgary roofing installations?
We provide three warranty layers: manufacturer’s Limited Lifetime material warranty, our 10-year workmanship guarantee, and extended coverage options through IKO, Malarkey or CertainTeed. All warranties transfer to new homeowners, protecting property values.
