Metal Valley Failure

After the big rain in September our living room ceiling started showing water stains right down the middle. Turned out the closed metal valley on our steep roof had been installed wrong years ago by whoever did the roof before us – the valley metal was too narrow and water was overshooting it during heavy downpours. HKS tore back the shingles on both sides of the valley, installed proper W-valley metal, re-shingled, and added ice and water shield underneath. Took about a day and a half with cleanup.

Velux 3-pane skylight

We wanted to add a VELUX skylight to our dark upstairs hallway. Klodian was realistic about what to expect.. The install went well, they cut the opening, framed it properly, and flashed it into the existing roof. Only minor issue was some drywall dust that got into the hallway carpet during the interior finishing, but they came back and cleaned it up when we mentioned it. Would recommend but make sure you’re okay with the two-day disruption inside the house.
